No One is Above the Law

By June 10, 2023No Comments

Yesterday, we published a somewhat tongue-in-cheek Opinion about the tactics of the 11+ right-wing conservative Members of Congress who forced Speaker McCarthy to shut down the House.  They had no serious “asks” in meetings with Speaker McCarthy.  All they wanted was to change the past.  As most of us have noticed, the past can never be changed.

Now, Donald Trump has been indicted.  Thirty-seven counts is a lot.  Espionage is one of the charges.  To be indicted is not to be declared guilty.  However, the photos, the extreme importance of the secrets that found their way to Mar-a-Lago, and the many roadblocks that former President Trump used as excuses for failing to return the documents will undoubtedly be helpful to the prosecution.  Trump is the first former President to be indicted.

Readers can count on MY RURAL AMERICA to share continuing coverage of this growing news story.  We stand with former President Theodore Roosevelt in his commitment:

No man is above the law, and no man is below it: nor do we ask any man’s permission when we ask him to obey it.

Theodore Roosevelt.
