Women in Ukraine Join the Fight

By August 29, 2022No Comments

The war in Ukraine is now in its sixth month.  Women joined the fight from the beginning, but their roles are increasing.  “Hanna” teaches women about unexploded munitions and land mines.  Overall, more than 50,000 women have joined Ukraine’s armed forces, many taking lead roles in logistics.

Like Yevghenlia Ustinovs, women asked themselves, “When the war started, I was just thinking ‘How can I be helpful?'”  Now, she just completed a two-day round-trip into Poland to pick up a truck and bring it back to Kyiv.  Others make camouflage netting, demine sites, volunteer for the local defense, and much more.
