Now, Daily Yonder reports that the Department of Justice’s lawsuit to stop the merger may not be enough. USDA is also considering a rule that would provide more data to producers, with the idea that producers would be better prepared to negotiate for themselves. It is unclear how much that could help since lots of data or not, the producers would be negotiating against a true Goliath, and farmers playing “David” don’t often win.
