Cargill and Continental Grain have teamed up to acquire Sanderson Farms — the third largest broiler chicken farm in the U.S. As reported by the Pennsylvania Capitol Star, author Tim Gibbons asks, “Why conspire with your competitors when you can just merge?”
The merger can be expected to affect grain producers as well as broiler growers since the merger eliminated another grain buyer on the open market and will result in fewer competitors buying grain. Learn more here.
