I confess. I’ve never found the Queen particularly interesting. The hats are fun, and at least some of the glamour, but now that there is a new King, I find myself getting interested. One good step forward that the new King Charles III has already begun is that he wants to consider himself not only as the traditional “Defender of the Faith” but also as a “defender of the faiths.” (See plural.)
Now, it seems most people agree that the UK is diverse and that Charles should champion the right of his subjects to practice the religious beliefs of their choice. As the song goes, “Things, they are a-changing.” This is going to be fun to watch.
