GOP Senators upset about Child Tax Credit

By February 2, 2024February 4th, 2024No Comments

GOP Senators are screaming — Oh woe is us!  They were left out of negotiations in the House-passed tax bill, which includes the Child Tax Credit (CTC).

The bill passed with strong bipartisan support in the House and now has moved to the Senate.  But Republican Senators worry:  What if undocumented children get some benefit?

Is anyone worrying about the part of the bill that offers corporations some tax benefits?  Apparently not.  Or what about the poorest children whose families don’t qualify?

The previous 2002 CTC left out 35% of rural children because their families were too poor to qualify.
