The Gift of Peace in Ukraine

By January 3, 2024No Comments

The key to Western World peace is Ukraine.  Should Putin be allowed even a tiny victory, he will use it to keep attacking more countries.  But that is okay with some Republicans who are cozying up with Putin and Russia, apparently agreeing with Putin that he should be allowed to attack countries at will … without any provocation at all.  Other Republicans are using Ukraine as a “poker chip” for use in negotiations about other subjects.  One way or the other, it looks like Republicans who traditionally worried over national security are a thing of the past.  Ever since WWII, the U.S.  has stood with the Western World — Europe, the European Union, the North Atlantic Treaty Organization, and other democratic countries around the world but some Republicans want to break this alliance.

First came Senator Tommy Tuberville (R- Alabama), who held up hundreds of military promotions, and after finally dropping most of them, lastly, he backed up from preventing 11 4-Star Generals from getting their well-earned promotions.  Then came the Hard-Right Republicans who opposed Ukraine for “what?” … with the Hard-Right demands proving they will do anything to make Democrats look like they are failing.  This leaves the remaining “poker chip” Republicans who stall and try to bargain for the impossible and/or for nothing much.  In summary, all these theatrics make the U.S. look weak, and “looking weak” meets the test of how “perception” can turn into reality.
