MY RURAL AMERICA SUPPORTS THE SUBPOENAS OF HARLAN CROW AND LEONARD LEO.
Leo is a highly influential conservative judicial activist and a likely billionaire. Harlan Crow is also a “billionaire” who provides incredibly “fancy” vacations — no limit on the spending, for Judges Clarence Thomas and Samuel Alito. Trips include the biggest yachts and the most expensive private resorts; first-class flights aren’t good enough when private jets can ferry the justices instead. And the funny thing, whether it’s Leo’s money or Crow’s, the conservative judges’ votes seem to match what these benefactors demand. No Rule of Law or court tradition is allowed to stand in the way.
Third time’s a charm? The Senate Judiciary Committee markup vote on the Leo and Crow subpoenas will be tomorrow. Leo’s dark money groups are already ultra-active around this vote tomorrow, so we should do what we can to support the subpoena vote. The subpoenas will shine their lights on what likely is more than a little nefarious activity in which “vote buying” is likely the goal.
