The Junior U.S. Senator from Alabama, Tommy Tuberville’s idealogical crusade against women’s healthcare freedoms has reached a new low. Tuberville’s refusal to carry out the most basic duties of his position, coupled with his fundamental lack of understanding about how the military functions, has left thousands of our troops in limbo, and an entire branch of our military without a confirmed leader for the first time since 1910.
Among the myriad of ways that Tuberville’s political hackery is harming our military personnel and overall readiness is the oft-forgotten enlisted service men and women who are bearing the financial and familial strains. Nearly half of the enlisted men and women in our armed services come from rural communities across the U.S., and tens of thousands of active duty soldiers and reservists from Tuberville’s home state alone.
Once again, Rural America is forced to suffer the consequences brought on by fanatic, right-wing politicians who are more concerned with airing their own personal grievances than serving their country and those they were elected to protect.
