Is the Word of Republicans any good?

By June 16, 2023No Comments

On May 23, MY RURAL AMERICA published this news story:  Republicans Pick on Hunger … Hungry kids, grandparents, the working poor.

We should have titled it:  REPUBLICANS CUT FARM BILL.   Now, these same Republicans are playing another game.  The “game” involves their breaking their word, i.e., the vote that majorities in both the House and the Senate agreed to when they voted to raise the debt ceiling.

Not Speaker McCarthy, not Rep. G.T. Thompson — Chair of the House Ag Committe, but rather, 11 House Republican extremists are leading the way to cut funding below the frozen levels President Biden, McCarthy, and a majority in both the House and Senate agreed to as part of the debt ceiling negotiations.

These 11 extremists care nothing about the integrity of the United States of America.  Nor do they care about hungry children, healthy soil, or a reliable food supply.  They prefer to attack the FARM BILL.  And all too many Republican lemmings are following them in their march off the cliff.
