House Republicans plan cuts in food & housing

Republicans plan to limit federal housing, food, and health care assistance programs.  They propose expanding SNAP work requirements for people between the ages of 18 and 56 to require they spend 20 hours a week in job training.  About 25% of people relying on SNAP would see their benefits cut.

The folks who run the food banks — food banks that run out of food say the need for food will increase.  SNAP is an effective program that reduces hunger by about 30%.
