Mary Kay Roth is the retired director of Communications for Lincoln Public Schools, and prior to that, was a reporter for newspapers in Nebraska, Florida and New York. She is a Lincoln native who graduated from the University of Nebraska-Lincoln with a triple-threat major in journalism, English and – that most valuable of majors – philosophy. Currently she writes for a variety of publications, participates in a weekly blog called 5WomenMayhem, helps create a weekly nature video called “Naturally Nebraska,” reads, travels, volunteers for all her favorite causes, looks for live music wherever she can find it, savors her grandchildren, bikes, hikes as many trails as she can find – and watches sunrises almost every single morning.
