In “normal” times, when candidates and their parties run for office, they plan to do things they promised in their campaigns, e.g., Senator Scott (FL) promised a five-year plan to eliminate Social Security and Medicare. Still, Republicans did not win control of the Senate, so Senate Democrats have placed Scott’s goal for Senate Republicans on the back burner.
Not Normal
In the House, Repubs ran on ?? a “saving Trump” plan. Now, McCarthy plans investigations. First is Hunter Biden’s laptop (again!), and second, a plan to remove three key Democrats from Committees: Reps. Eric Swalwell (Calif.) and Adam Schiff (Calif.) from Intelligence, and Ilhan Omar (Minn.) from Foreign Affairs.
Normal
Usually, elected officials work to pass signature issues that benefit constituents, e.g., Democrats passed the Infrastructure Bill, the CHIPS Bill that brings jobs back into the country, and the Inflation Reduction Act that reduced drug costs, addresses climate change, and adds jobs.
But things aren’t normal, so it can be expected we will see a lot of “craziness” while Democrats fight for attention to the kitchen table issues voters expect. The craziness begins with Hunter Biden’s laptop and tossing people off committees because they did their jobs.
