In New Hampshire, voters worry about domestic and foreign policy and the cost of living, just like voters everywhere, but this year there is one more issue — abortion. Senator Maggie Hassan (D) and challenger Don Bolduc (R) provide a clear choice. Hassan opposes the recent Supreme Court decision to toss out 50 years of precedent that allowed women to choose their medical care, including that related to abortion. Bolduc began his race with strong support for outlawing abortion but now has become wishy-washy on the issue, flip-flopping as he tries to cover up his opposition and gather more support. McConnell and the Republican Senate Campaign Committee pulled their support of Bolduc, and he appears to be just about out of money. Like the recent Kansas vote, it appears that Hassan and her support for women’s freedom will prevail. Presently, NH’s delegation is all Democratic. Will that continue? 13 more days to find out!
Every state’s voters face this decision, too. Some states have one more decision to make since they have anti-abortion constitutional amendments to vote yes, or no! Pew Research shows “75% of registered Democrats and 30% of registered Republicans saying the issue is very important in determining how they’ll vote.”
