Day after day, farm chemicals are proving more dangerous than we knew. When I first moved to the farm, my husband warned me, “If you see purple stuff (Furidan) being poured into a corn planter, make sure you are not on the windward side. It will freeze your lungs.” Now, as the understanding of the dangers of farm chemicals grow, people with Parkinson’s are suing; people whose tomatoes were killed as chemicals blew across the fence from the next-door field are angry, and; Monsanto/Bayer is being sued (while the Justice Dept. refused to stand with Monsanto).
