Months ago, the packed Supreme Court made a decision on abortion that many Republicans originally cheered for. Then they found out that voters are very, very unhappy with the decision. First, Republicans called it a moral issue for them, but now, they are changing positions, erasing their websites, and pretending they really don’t support the Court. Hmmmnn … Duplicitous or not?
On September 2nd, we reported an initial list of the back-trackers here. Now, even more Republicans are climbing onto the “backtracker” bandwagon. Under more ordinary circumstances, we often think it is good to see people soften positions that allow them to move in a direction toward freedom for women to make their own health decisions. But this time, the cover-ups seem to be mostly about pandering to get elected.
