State by State – What the $35 Cap on Insulin Would Have Meant

By August 18, 2022No Comments

See the following chart for how the $35 cap on insulin costs would have affected people with diabetes in each state.  The bill — which was killed by 43 Republicans, stopped the cap on costs of insulin in the private market by targeting people with private insurance who now must continue to pay increasingly larger amounts for their insulin.

The $35 cap on insulin for Medicare patients remains included in the Inflation Reduction Act which all Democrats supported, and all Republicans opposed, except for four who did not vote.  The four Republicans who did not vote were Mike Pence – Indiana, Jerry Carl and Mike Rogers – Alabama, and Mike Gallagher – Wisconsin.
