Republicans Again Block Democrat Efforts to Lower Insulin Prices

On July 26th, 2022, Hawaii Democratic Senator Brian Schatz took to Twitter to voice his outrage at his Republican colleagues. Early in the afternoon, he said, “Every single elected Republican in the Senate is about to vote against reducing the cost of prescription drugs for those on Medicare.”

 

Meanwhile, Senator Chuck Grassley (R – Iowa) complained on Twitter that he was missing his family reunion because he had to travel to Washington, DC to vote against that same Democratic bill that would lower prices for Medicare recipients for medicines like insulin. Democrats only needed three more votes to pass the bill, but Grassley, who wrote a bill 37 years ago that prohibited negotiations on drug prices, could not be swayed. Read more at this link.
