Iowa Governor Kim Reynolds and the Iowa Department of Management’s Office of the Chief Information Officer have released a new map illustrating access to broadband internet in the state. While some parts of Iowa have consistent access to fast internet, parts of rural Iowa have clearly been left behind.

Luckily, President Biden’s recently enacted Bipartisan Infrastructure Law offers a solution. The bill provides billions of dollars for installing and/or improving internet infrastructure in rural areas, including in Iowa. The map is precise and includes indicators of places that are eligible for federal grants. If Iowans disagree about the classification of their internet quality, they can submit corrections with the Office of the Chief Information Officer. Learn more at this link.
