Our hearts go out to Georgia — and to all the families who have lost children due to gun violence

But NO, Dear Reader, you won’t find any thoughts and prayers here.  We could stop these killings, but way too many people in the electorate are choosing their AR15s as more important than our children.

Here are the Top 13 Republican Excuses for doing nothing about gun violence:

  1. It’s not the right time — “not politically expedient.”   (Thank you — Senator Mitch McConnell!)
  2. It’s the school’s fault.
  3. Only thoughts and prayers are needed.
  4. Guns needed for the next insurrection.
  5. MAGA Supreme Court has blocked gun safety reform.  (Thank you — Senator Charles Grassley!)
  6. Common sense doesn’t apply to gun safety — The 2nd Amendment protects AR15s that were not invented in 1789.  Only worry about the unborn — Banning abortions will stop abortions, but banning assault weapons won’t stop mass killings.
  7. Do whatever the Gun Lobby says.
  8. Make everyone wear body armor.
  9. Everyone needs a gun.
  10. Blame guns.
  11. Shooters will be shooters.
  12. Both sides need guns!
