Gov. Tim Walz — Kamala Harris’ Pick for VP

By August 6, 2024No Comments

Some people ask why.  We from the Midwest, West, or other states with rural populations understand.  Kamala Harris’ decision guarantees the election will be fought everywhere, reaching out to all our country’s citizens: rural, urban, small towns, and cities.  It won’t just be bi-coastal but everywhere.  Their campaign will be on the Interstates and up and down the country roads of America.  Yes, there will be airplanes, but the planes won’t just fly from coast to coast.  These will take Kamala Harris and Tim Walz as close as airplanes can get to the heartland of our country.

New York Times Journalist Jess Bidgood said Kamala Harris picked Gov. Tim Walz partly because of his folksy Midwestern manner.  Walz was the first to turn the word “weird” into the signature political attack of the summer.  Bidgood said, “Walz, perhaps more than any other contender on Harris’s shortlist, was the vibes pick for a vibes election.”

Minnesotans know him best.  Walz supports free school lunches, expanded background checks on gun purchases, and sanctuary for those seeking abortion.  He understands agriculture is about food on our tables, jobs in our community, and how farmers must adjust to climate change.  Kids shouldn’t go hungry, and families do better when there is food on their tables.  Labor endorsed him, and teachers know Walz did not fall for vouchers that take public money from our public schools.
