How about a Working Guy for the US Senate?

By May 30, 2024No Comments

This year, Nebraska voters have a new choice. Dan Osborn is the “working guy,” a former Union leader and the non-partisan candidate for Nebraska’s next Senator.   MY RURAL AMERICA is watching his campaign closely.  There are no Senators — either party, in the US Senate who bring hands-on working class experience to national policy-making.  Since he is running as an Independent, it means there will be no need for voters to choose one party vs. another.

With Lynyrd Skynyrd’s “Sweet Home Alabama” playing in the background, Osborn made this commitment in a recent interview, “There’s nobody like me in the United States Senate, somebody who goes to work every day, gets dirt underneath my fingernails, comes from the working class, who’s done it for over twenty years.  I want to be a voice for people like me that work for a living.”

“I loved the controlled chaos. I loved being the person that people counted on. And then I loved coming through for them, too,” Osborn. “I want to do the same thing for the people of Nebraska.”

A new Platte Institute poll found that 70% of Nebraska’s voters believe tax and workforce issues are linked.  Should Osborn make it to the Senate, his voice on workforce issues would be a valuable one for connecting the two.
