Old Farm Bill passes without Ethanol Provision

By December 23, 2024No Comments

“Both versions of the proposed “continuing resolution” would extend Farm Bill programs for another year after lawmakers were unable to agree on a new five-year package despite months of negotiations. They also included $10 billion to help farmers struggling with high interest rates, declining crop prices, and rising production costs outpacing farm revenues. Producers also would get $20 billion of the $100 billion in disaster aid in the package.”

This marks the third year House lawmakers have been unable to craft a new replacement bill.   Under more usual circumstances, a Farm Bill is written to last five years.  This Farm Bill is only allowed one year.  Attached to the full funding act that extends government through March 14, it has only minor changes.  President Biden signed the combination bill allowing the government to continue through March 14 this morning.
