Trump named A ten-year FOX NEWS host to be Secretary of Defense. Worried about US democracy? Start here. Should Trump be able to oust Military generals at will? Or should Trump be allowed to skip the Senate confirmation process to appoint judges?
An Executive Order is ready for Trump’s inauguration to oust the generals. The Senate must decide whether they will give away the confirmation power. Pete Hegseth’s primary qualification is serving as a FOX News host for the last ten years. Hegseth served in Iraq and Afghanistan, but that was long ago. Challenges in security move fast, and talking about defense issues on TV is a lot different than managing the 1.4 million active military personnel, who are spread across the Army, Navy, Air Force, Marine Corps, and Space Force. There are also almost 800,000 civilians who work for the Department of Defense.
Trump’s demand for the Senate is in play. He wants his Judge picks to become official without Senate Confirmation.
