With a genuinely bipartisan vote of 357-70, the $78 Billion tax bill boosted the child tax credit and reinstated business deductions rescinded when Trump was president. Senate Finance Committee Chair Ron Wyden (D-OR) and House Ways and Means Committee Chair Jason Smith (R-MO) worked together to create the Tax Relief for American Families and Workers Act.
The 70 no votes were made up of mostly Freedom Caucus House members who opposed the Child Tax Credit and some progressives who wanted increases in state and local tax deductions.
