The “not guilty” plea was expected, so perhaps the day’s real news is that the Trump “Balloon” seems to have popped. In contrast to Jan. 6, when all too many uninformed people showed up to protest, demand, and attack the Capitol, hardly anyone showed up.
No protesters. No flag poles to beat police with. No bear spray. No Trump flags. No one sits with their boots on Nancy Pelosi’s desk. No people were climbing the walls of the Capitol and breaking the glass windows to climb in. NPR reports: Photos: A look back at the Jan. 6 insurrection
Whew!
Yesterday was very different than on Jan. 6 when Donald Trump brought thousands of people to Washington to protest what Trump called a stolen election. For Washingtonians, this Trump indictment is personal. (Petula Clark, The Washington Post). We saw it happen. We worried over whether the attack would be a war for the city and the country we love and live in.
Now, Georgia police are preparing for another Court arraignment. Indictment? The police in Atlanta are building an orange barricade wall. I wonder if many protesters will show up.
At Donald Trump’s arraignment in New York, the crowd was small, and it seemed that the media vastly outnumbered the protesters.
In Florida … same song, the pro-Trump protesters were minuscule. MSNBC reported: “He’s alone: Trump arraignment sees no family, no posse, no protests”
People are beginning to understand that the “BIG STEAL” was a BIG BUST! A BIG LIE!
Whether BIG BUST or BIG LIE, the dangers for our country are still there. If we are to continue to live in a stable democracy where No One is Above the Law and the Rule of Law matters, then these arraignments of Donald Trump must be based on hard-core proof that our U.S. Constitution matters and jurors must bravely do their job.
The NYTimes Editorial Board was direct, “Of all the ways that Donald Trump desecrated his office as president, the gravest — as outlined in extraordinary detail in the criminal indictment issued against him on Tuesday — was his attempt to undermine the Constitution and overturn the results of the 2020 election, hoping to stay in office.” Read more: A President Accused of Betraying His Country
