Everywhere we look, farmers have challenges. Let’s start with the almost unprecedented heat wave and drought that U.S. farmers are facing. The Sun Belt has triple temperatures; the Midwest is facing drought, and overall, farmers still have months of need for rain and better temperatures.
Add Ukraine, and Putin’s broken promises to allow the Black Sea to be open for transporting grain that China needs as do numerous African countries all facing food insecurity issues.
“While this grain deal has played a part in calming skyrocketing food prices, it is not the cure-all for world hunger,” said Hanna Saarinen of U.K.-based anti-poverty charity Oxfam.
