Rural Healthcare Deserts
As more and more rural health facilities close their doors, the dangers of rural healthcare deserts will continue to spiral out of control. This issue spreads across several areas of healthcare delivery. Currently, nearly half of rural, U.S. counties are maternity care deserts, and countless rural hospitals and community health centers are closing their doors.
These closures underscore the growing need for reinvestment in rural infrastructure and subsidization of rural health services. The studies have been done (read more below), now we need state and federal governments to act.
