Will Senator Rubio eat his words? (We hope so.)

President Biden and the federal government began preparations for Hurricane Ian  before it touched shore in Florida. Federal rescue workers were literally on the ground at the edge of the storm, ready and waiting to go into the heavily damaged areas as soon as it was safe. DeSantis followed up by making the formal emergency request, and today he met with the President in the White House.  My Rural America will be sharing details of the emergency help that Biden and his Federal agencies are providing.

But we wondered?  Does anyone in FL ever think about the dangers of climate change?

Assuming that the question refers to political leaders, it appears that the answer is NO! To get us started, see this story about Senator Marco Rubio (FL-R)Ryan cooper.  As reported by the American Prospect, Rubio clearly doesn’t get it,  “I’m also not going to destroy our economy. There’s a reality here. There’s a balance on that end of it that we need to be focused on,” he said. Rubio voted against the Inflation Reduction Act, which was basically a huge climate bill, as did every other Senate Republican,.

Later this week, we’ll report on more

FL leadership.
