Arizona Senator Kyrsten Sinema left Washington unhappy this week. Three things are for sure:

  1. She wants changes in the Manchin-Schumer deal.
  2. She is one of the private equity industry’s darlings (so we know she doesn’t like the $14 billion tax deal that would tax carried interest).
  3. She does not like New York Senator Chuck Schumer.

If Senator Sinema kills Democrats’ best chance in recent memory to pass meaningful climate legislation, she very well could face a tough primary against well-liked progressive challenger Rep. Ruben Gallego.
