Joyce Hunter is the Executive Director of the Institute for Critical Infrastructure Technology (ICIT), a cybersecurity think tank, and is Founder and President of the Open Data STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Agriculture/Athletics, and Math) summer camps for underserved and underrepresented youth. She was appointed by President Barack Obama as Deputy Chief Information Officer for Policy and Planning at the Department of Agriculture and served from 2013 through 2017. Hunter earned a B.A. from Villanova University and an MBA in Marketing from the Wharton School at the University of Pennsylvania. The Daily Record named her among the Top 100 Women in Maryland in 2021, and Security Magazine named her one of the Most Influential People in Security for 2020. Hunter serves on the Dean’s Advisory Council for Villanova University and Bowie State University, and she was recently appointed Chair of the CyberAg Advisory Board. Her publications include “Transforming, Performing and Innovating in a Complex World,” published in the Handbook of Federal Government Leadership and Administration, the white paper “Underfunded Infrastructure: Impact on Health Equity” for the 2022 Telehealth Equity Coalition and, and the soon-to-be-announced “Securing the Nation’s Infrastructure: A Guide for the 2021 – 2025 Administration.”
